2008 Calendar

NOW ON EXHIBIT :

"Coming to the Rescue " 

Take a peek at the history of our local police and fire departments, as well as the Lifesaving Station and Coast Guard Station at Eaton's Neck and help us to honor those in service to our community.  Main Gallery, 215 Main Street, Northport.  Tuesday-Sunday, 1-4:30 p.m.  A $3 per person donation is suggested.

ONGOING:

Chances are still available for raffle for the week in Puerto Rico.  The winning ticket will be drawn at our Annual Meeting to be held on Sunday, May 18th.  Winner need not be present to be eligible.  Raffle tickets are $10 each and are available at the Northport Historical Society's Museum, located at 215 Main Street, Northport.

Sunday, May 18th -- Annual Meeting.

All Northport Historical Society members are invited to attend our Annual Membership meeting at our Museum, 215 Main Street, Northport. The meeting begins at 2:00 p.m. and will include a review of 2007 and the election of trustees for the coming year.

Sunday, May 18th -- Speaker Series, "Wild About Natives ."

Krista Mellinger, a Society Member and owner of DaVinci Garden and Horticulture Consultants, will share tips and ideas on designing and planting your garden and answer your questions to help make your yard bloom.  Ms. Mellinger has recently consulted with the Society on the improvements being made in the landscaping of our Museum grounds.  She will be speaking in our main gallery, 215 Main Street, Northport from 2:30 - 4:00 p.m.  There is a suggested donation of $3 per person.

Sunday, May 18th -- Parading Down Main Street.

Join us for an entertaining and informative guided walking tour of Northport's historic business district.  Using photos from the collection and a true gift for storytelling, your guide will make Main Street's past come alive.  Tickets may be purchased in the Museum Shop at a cost of $4 per person.  The tour group meets at 1:30 p.m. on the front steps of the Museum, 215 Main Street, Northport.

Sunday, June 8th -- Speaker Series, "Views of the Willaim Floyd Estate."  MaryLaura Lamont of the William Floyd Estate will be speaking on this historic location.  This event will be held in our main gallery located at 215 Main Street in the village of Northport from 2:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m.  There is a suggested donation $3 per person.

Tuesday, July 1st -- Raffle ticket sales begin.

Chances to win the beautiful handcrafted dollhouse on display at the 2007 Holiday party begin today.  The drawing for the winner will be held at our Holiday Party on December 7th.  More details about this fundraiser will be coming soon!

Sunday, July 13th -- Annual Garden Tour.

Sunday, September 21st -- Cow Harbor Day.

Don't forget to stop by our Museum, located at 215 Main Street, as you enjoy the Village of Northport's annual celebration. Check out our latest exhibit, visit the Museum Shop, or indulge in that perennial favorite -- cotton candy -- available on our front lawn.  Either way, we hope to see you there!

Saturday, September 27th -- Fall ABC Sale.

Clean out your attics, basements, and closets and gather together your clean and saleable antiques, collectibles, books, jewelry and nifty household items to donate to our yard sale to be held on the Museum lawn (no clothing or electrical appliances, please).  Donations for the sale will be accepted Tuesday-Sunday from 1 to 4:30 p.m. starting August 26th. For more information, please call the Museum at 757-9859.  Volunteers are welcome!

Saturday, October 4th and Sunday, October 5th -- Town Of Huntington Historic Partnership Museum Challenge. 

Northport Historical Society's Museum will be joining with other local museums as part of this Town of Huntington Historic Partnership event.  The goal: visit all of the THHP member museums during the two day period. The weekend-long event provides an excellent opportunity for the entire family to learn more about the offerings of our local history organizations.

Sunday, November 2nd -- Annual Antiques Show.

Come to buy -- or just to browse.  Our annual Antiques Show promises an exciting mix of approximately 50 dealers, displaying diverse offerings of antique, vintage and collectible items.  Furniture, silver, linens, country and primitive, pottery, china, jewelry, ephemera and much more will be offered for sale.  For shoppers’ convenience, luncheon from Copenhagen Bakery will be available.  This event is held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Laurel Avenue School, 158 Laurel Avenue, Northport.  Ticket information will be coming soon.

Members and friends of the Northport Historical Society are invited to join us for our annual holiday celebration.  One highlight of the afternoon will be the drawing of the winner in our doll house raffle.  More details, including times, will be coming soon.

Sunday, December 14th -- Holiday House Tour.

Our popular Holiday House Tour will return again.  Please check this website, as details will be added as they become available.
