The exhibit, “Northport and the Civil War: A Few Good Men,” follows 12 Northport men as they left their homes to join the Union cause. It explores life in Northport before the war and shows who the men were, their families, their homes and their livelihoods. It traces the soldiers’ march down South, demonstrates the battles they were in, their trials and tribulations and ultimately their fate. It also describes how Northport ultimately honored those that fell and what became of the men that made it back home. Among the items on display are authentic Civil War artifacts such as rifles, swords, personal items and other equipment.
